Teaching Your Children English: The Internet

For English language learners with children, below are some websites you can use to teach your kids at home.

First, there's ESL Games + a site for teachers, but, parents can easily use. There are games and activities for all levels. There are printable exercises available as well. ESL Games + is free. You can register for a free membership too.

Here's a memory game for low-beginners.

Again, I am a huge fan of YouTube. It's useful for both ESL learners, and teachers, and it's free. One YouTube channel children enjoy is Sesame Street. The videos cover counting, the alphabet, days of the week, and more. There are songs for kids to sing along to, which helps them remember new words.

Below is a counting song.

 There's also the School-House Rock videos that do cover grammar and vocabulary (along with history, manners, etc). There isn't one channel for these classic videos from the 70s and 80, so just do a search for
 using schoolhouse rock.

Here's one about adjectives (for example, big, tall, small, etc)

A fellow teacher in Japan, known as David Desu on YouTube, made many creative English songs for kids' lessons. He doesn't sing with much energy, but, he's easy to understand, and funny. Here's his playlist.

My favourite is the "Indiana Jones Hello Song".
